TERRI POWER

Terri has lived in various areas of the United States including Cleveland Ohio, Valdosta Georgia, New Jersey, Petaluma and Los Angeles California. She attended high school at Lowndes High School in Georgia. There she studied Drama and was President of the Drama club. Terri attended Santa Rosa Junior College in California and performed with many local theatre companies including SRJC, Summer Repertory Theatre, The Actor's Theatre, 4th Wall Stage Company, Napa Valley Players, Shakespeare on the Beach and Santa Rosa Players. Terri also competed for two years on the SRJC Speech team, winning the Top Speaker in the State award in 1993. Terri transferred to UCLA and studied Drama in the acting track with Mel Shapiro and in such productions as Two Gentlemen of Verona: the Musical and The Kentucky Cycle. She wrote and directed her first major theatre piece The Goddess Credo  in 1996 which was presented in the courtyard of the Drama department, merging her love for creating original feminist work and performing in alternative spaces...a hint of things to come.

Interests in experimental theatre and performance art influenced Terri's work from 1996-2000. Terri worked with various companies and practitioners through workshops, residencies, performances, and training programs incuding the SITI Company, The Wooster Group, Cleveland Public Theatre, The Wexner Center, Anne Bogart and Marcel Marceau. Terri's interest in Video and performance eventually led her back to Los Angeles.

In Los Angeles, Terri worked as a Background Player in hundreds of movies, television shows, and commercials. "There was a time when the only jobs I could get to survive were background calls. I couldn't get hired at Starbucks because they knew I was an actor, but walk across a soundstage in a Will and Grace episode... no problem!" Eventually Terri was hired onto bigger features and found steady work as a tour guide at Universal Studios. Eventually she became a VIP guide and worked in many areas at Universal throughout the overall 5 years of service. Terri also was hired in the Entertainment department at Disneyland and worked on several productions including Donald's Vision and Monster's Inc. Terri performed in many Los Angeles theatre productions including the popular Electra: I hate My Momma and Step Daddy and Antigone at the Knightsbridge Theatre. She also had lead roles in Independent Feature Films such as Two Gentlemen of Verona a modern version of Shakespeare's play written and directed by award winning Indie filmmaker Karen Klopfenstein.Terri's love of classical theatre was beginning to show and soon she was on a mission to study Shakespeare!
