This page is dedicated to the recent projects that I have led with female performers playing male characters or using masculinity as a site for performance.

Most recently the Research and Performance module I taught comprised of an all-female group. In the spring 2006 we explored Japanese performer training and theatre techniques and applied our work to a production of Romeo and Juliet performed in Roborough Studios in Exeter, June 2006.

many of the Women had to learn to fight for the production.

With assistance from Ivan Zizzek the women were trined to fight with staffs. Ivan teaches at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre and works with fight choreographer Phillip Stafford.

In keeping with the Japanese aesthetics and maintaining safety on stage, staffs were used to represent the swords. The staffs were used in many of the Male Katas that were performed throughout the production.

This is the ideal place to design your own custom page, filled with whatever you can imagine from products, pictures, fan clubs, links or just more information.

Practicing Katas is Highly Technical!
